Telephony Billing Manager 1.2 (TBM 1.2)
is a group of
software applications created for collecting the information regarding the
telephonic traffic through a switching center (Nortel Networks Meridian1/
Succession) and traffic analyses in order to highlight the costs of using
the telephonic network through detailed reports on the: dialed number,
duration, calls cost, calls cost summaries, calls cost totals on
departments, services and entire corporation.
Telephony Billing Manager has the following software components:
 |
ComWatch
application, for data collecting
through the PC serial port, filtering,
analyzing, processing and saving to database;
|
 |
TelecomBilling
application, that is a
graphical interface made to provide an easy
tool for querying of the current database and the archive database and
viewing,
exporting, printing and saving reports; |
 |
DatabaseTools
software utility which helps the user
to archive the data from the
current database (CDR)
by transferring it to the archive database (Arh),
deleting
useless data and also to call then compact & repair function for the
selected
database. |
 |
CDR
– current database, in this database the
ComWatch
application
writes the information regarding the incoming and outgoing calls;
|
 |
Arh
– archive database, which contains the
information moved from
CDR
database. |
The information regarding the calls,
named Call Detail Recording (CDR) are collected by the
ComWatch
application through the PC serial port, they are
real-time processed and saved to the current database, that means that
ComWatch
application have to be permanently
running.
Depending of the hardware capabilities of the PC on which
TBM
is running a big size of the current database can have a negative impact
on the speed of data processing of the queries. To avoid such a situation
TBM contains
an archive database, which will be used to store the less used call’s data
transferred from the current database (CDR)
using DatabaseTools
software utility. After this process of
transferring data from CDR
to
Arh
the information is first stored in
Arh
database and then deleted from
CDR
database.
TBM
has his own tools for viewing, saving, exporting
and printing and does not need any other application for achieving these
goals. Otherwise, the existence of any applications on the PC which is
running the TBM,
theoretically does not affect the good functioning of the
TBM
applications.
